The saying home sweet home don't mean to much to me.
The yellow line's my guide, the pavement set me fre.
My mama always told me, "be careful who you love, 'cause they'll pull you away from where your heart is".
But we all know about forsaken advice, and with a turn of a key my soul departed.
Left my hometown, in a haze of gasoline -- burnt all the bridges on the way.
This love could drive a man insane, but it amazes me the distance that one fortnight could bring.
Been past the gallows, I drove into the dust -- my tired eyes begin to close.
But still, I've yet to find a home, 'cause a man's roots can't settle on a highway made of stone.
Yet my lover has a grip on me, as I ride along her curves -- she always leaves me wanting more.
She's my affliction and I don't know what's in store, but the road is my mistress and she cannot be ignored.
So now I'm sitting old and broke, both heels in the dust -- living's struck a lonely chord.
I sent my life and family packing out the door, so this one last time I'll ride, I'll push my pedal to the floor.
